Walkers Journey
In Walkers journey to find her aunt Zora Neal Hurston, in her hometown Eatonville, she is amazed by the way she influenced the town. She is surprised by the things she finds out about Zora's personality. Even though Walker notices that Zora was not known very well around town, she still goes around town to find more answers pertaining to Zora. When she finally finds Zora's grave she is shocked of the way the site looks with heavy thick weeds that "have formed a gray carpet on the ground". After speaking to Dr. Benton, Zora's doctor then clarifies to her that she did not die from malnutrition like Mosley had told her at first, Zora died from a stroke. In her journey Walker learned a lot more than she expected about Hurston, her personality, her relationship with her family, and even about her surprisingly never ending appetite.Walker realized that her aunt was an amazing woman with great character.

Will this year be the year that asks questions or one that answers them? Will this be the year that does both?
The year that Janie is in will be the one that answers her questions. Janie's never experienced a real relationship with a man that she truly had feelings for and felt happy being with. All Nanny wanted was for Janie to have a good and well provided life for her. Janie's dream was to be in a marriage full of love and to be treated like a princess. But even though she is married to Logan, Janie isn't sure about what "love" really is. Janie realizes that her marriage with him is nothing like the marriage she always dreamed of. She knows that between her and Logan there were hardly any true feelings for each other. She is no where near happy about her marriage with Logan and says she would like to know what it feels like to be in a real relationship where both persons have equal feelings for each other.
Janie still wonders what it would've been like to be in the fairy tail marriage she always imagined herself being in. Jody comes along and asks Janie to run away with him and live happy. This year will bring answers to Janie. It will finally answer her questions about true "love" and happiness.

Who's Getting Married?
When two people have strong feelings for each other, they usually get married in the end. A marriage is between two people who fell for one another and will do anything for each other. When it comes to getting married, it is a big step and a huge change to someones life. When you marry someone else, you are promising that you will be there for one another through thick and thin. Should at least one person in your family approve of your marriage? Yes, It would help a lot knowing that you have your family supporting you on this big step but they can't get in the way of your relationship with someone else. If you are happy, they should be happy for you. You're the one getting married, not them. Who you decide to get married to and spend the rest of your life with is your choice.

A Home Breeze
fragilely bound into the house by French windows at either end.
The windows were ajar and gleaming white against the fresh grass
outside that seemed to grow a little way into the house.
A breeze blew through the room,
blew curtains in at one end and out the other
like pale flags, twisting them up toward the white frosting cake of the ceiling
and then rippled over the wine-colored rug
making a shadow on it as wind does on the sea.

Adultery
Is there a circumstance in which adultery should be allowed? Absolutely not. If you cannot stay faithful to one person then there is no point of being in a relationship at all. I know that many couples would say that adultery is fine as long as the trust between one another is not lost. But seriously, why would you get married to someone that you "love" and obviously want to spend the rest of your life with if you're not even going to be happy being only with them? Your Significant other should be the one and only person that you worry about.
First of all, when two people marry each other it means that they are happy with one another and want to be together forever and hopefully have family. I know for a fact that if adultery had anything to do with my family, i wouldn't be the kind of person that i am today. As parents, they should be the ones to set an example for their children. Adultery should NOT be an option in a marriage.

Outer Appearances
Most people are quick to judge each other by looks. The way you dress can tell a lot about yourself. In today's society I believe that outward appearances are definitely important. For example, every year on the first day of school everyone always dresses to impress. Students try to look their best to make a good first impression on everyone else. Buy using too much make-up, expensive clothes, brand shoes, straighteners and lasting hours in front of a mirror are various ways that prove how everyone, including myself sometimes get too concerned about our outer appearances. I think everyone should worry about their appearance's, not too much to the point where its all you ever think about but to like a point where you look decent, or presentable. I would say that another thing that shows that we might be a little too concerned with our outer appearance is the amount of beauty products at a store and commercials about them. Outer appearances are definitely deceptive. When you first meet someone at a party for example, they're definitely going to be dressed nice and everything.People will treat you differently by the way you look. For many at this age is when having a tattoo, or getting piercings is "cool" but as you get older those are the things that people at a job interview for example will judge you on. In all honesty, to me, money and looks don't matter. My significant others personality would be what attracted me in the first place, his looks or money wont change how i feel about him. I'd say that many people would agree with me that a significant other's money or looks don't matter as much as the way the person really is does. Of course, someones looks can be the main reason why someone could be attracted to them in the first place but everyone knows money and looks don't last forever.

Assimilation
Everyday people show many examples of assimilation without realizing it. I see it everywhere, specially at school. Assimilation is when someone changes their way of thought or persona' just to "fit in" or make a good impression. At school, many people assimilate by acting different around certain people, changing the way they dress, walk, or even the way they speak just to blend in with everyone. Many people view assimilation as a way of fitting in and others view it as a way of expressing themselves. By getting tattoos, piercings, or certain haircuts people like to express who they really are instead of trying to fit in with the crowd. At the end of the day, people should always be themselves and not worry about what others think of them.
In the play "Raisin in the Sun" the character, Beneatha, has worries about assimilation herself. Unlike what a woman like her was expected to do, which was be a stay home wife. Beneatha is determined to be a doctor, something many people don't support her in. I believe this play shows assimilation as a weakness from Beneathas part, it's like if she were ashamed of who she is and her cultures expectations for her. Eric Liu knew that by him making certain decisions having to do with assimilation he wouldn't get much support, and his actions would be considered as betraying his own culture. He started assimilating with American culture and viewed assimilation as a positive change for himself. He believed it opened more opportunities for him and a new life.

My Family
I absolutely love my family and I appreciate everything they've done for me. They are more important to me than anything else. My parents, especially, have done a lot for me. There is no doubt in my mind that they want nothing but the best for me. I understand that they wont always be there right by my side supporting me like they always are. I like the feeling of making my own choices, but many of the choices you make in life wont only effect you but your family as well. You can't always put yourself first, you have to think about others too.
My family is the first thing that comes to my mind when I'm making a decision. I'd rather stay in and watch a movie with them than go out. I've learned that friends will always come and go and your family are the ones who will be there for you no matter what. I don't know what I'd do if I were to lose them, they are my world. In the end they are the only people I can really rely on. I believe if you're selfish and put your own desires before your own family, you don't really know the true meaning of "family". You should never feel like you have to pick between your family and your own desires. If its right, your family will support you in anything that you do and in the choices that you make. I'd rather lose a chance of making one of my own desires true than to lose my family. My family’s desires come before my own because they are that important to me.

My American Dream
An American Dream is a vision someone has inspired to have a better life in the future than they have right now whether it is by getting a job, helping people with cancer, or even something such as becoming a teacher. Many dreams are overlooked at first, but with time, dedication and the real desire to accomplish them, one dream can go a long way and make a difference in not just one but multiple people. My "American Dream" since I was a little girl has and still is to graduate from college. Of course, just like everyone else that goes to college, I’d like to peruse my career by graduating with a master’s degree and a major. I am probably not the only person with a dream to graduate from college with a degree and a major but to me it’s not just a "dream". To me graduating from college will not only be a great accomplishment but it will mean that my parents will be proud of me and my younger sister will be more motivated to go to college, by her seeing me accomplish my dream she will understand that dreams do come true if you really want them no matter how big or small it is specially to never give up on them. I'll be proud to say I dedicated my time to better my future not just for me but for my family as well. After college, I will become a pediatrician and help little kids. In my spare time I will volunteer at animal shelters. I love animals, and if I had a chance to stop animal cruelty forever I would, volunteering at a shelter will make me feel better about myself because I'd actually be doing something to help many animals in need. I want to be someone that people look up to.
Me, Myself and I
Hello everyone, welcome to my blog page if you haven’t already noticed my name is Jade. I am a junior in high school. I’m a teenager living her teenage life to the fullest, above the influence of course. In my past 2 years in high school I’ve learned many lessons, not just from my friend’s experiences but from my own as well. Good and bad experiences all turned into lessons learned and have made me the princess that I am today. I take everything day by day, and appreciate every moment of it, or at least try to. I’m not going to sit here and write about myself and make it all seem perfect because I’m not. Nor do I ever plan to be. So yes, like every other teenager I do have my own little moments. Like, for those moments I have in my life where I just want to get away from everything and release all my stress, soccer is the only thing that comes to mind. When I’m playing soccer I’m not worried about a grade I got on a test, an argument I had with my mom on my way to school that morning, or the way my make-up looks , I don’t even worry about the time. When I’m playing soccer it’s like every bit of worry is gone. I replace those worries with something I love and enjoy doing. I’m definitely all about thinking ahead, not just focusing on the present or being stuck on the past. I have big goals set for me and my future. I love my family and will do anything to never let them down.
